Use no more than 4 or 5 locations. Minimize it.
Minimize travel time to save time and money
Don't use more than 4 or 5 main characters and then have a few other supporting ones. No ensemble pieces, what if someone drops out!
Write roles that take the strengths of what that person is good at, cater to their strengths.
Avoid exterior night scene because of lighting, can be impossible without the right equipment and especially if you don't have the budget for it.
Avoid editing in special effects or CGI (computer generated imagery) unless you do it yourself.
Pre production
Location recce/ scout- Is there a specific time we need to film? do we kick people out? health and safety? Get a feel for the best time of day to use it.
Verify the equipment and actors schedule/ availability.
